Now that part right their is one fine/advanced piece of engineering. In a related report Campy is scrounging every old bike shop worldwide inorder to find enough to include this with its 2007 Rec. groupo offering.

Look at the nasty welds at the seat/seatsays, some of the locals here would not even give that to a rival team none the less your best hope?

Boonen lost because he did not have the extended seat tube thingamabob on his Time. He woulda won otherwise because the Time with that extended seat tube thingie is more rigid for better power transfer and stiff yet compliant.

FWIW, some of the welds on my Serotta are nothin' special. Not dissing Serotta at all on the welding. I didn't buy it to look at. But my Strong and Anvil have/had cleaner looking welds.

And all the welds are better than I could do.

Its funny, kinda goes hand and hand w/me being chicken to race my good bike for fear of monkeying it up. There are bikes for racing and bikes for ridin/looking at? The weirder thing is I thought I fell into the bike is a tool group, maybe I am getting old?

I see the benefit of the forgiveness of steel and all here, but the CN piece went on about how this bike might "bend rather than break etc." but the problem with that logic is that the fork is still carbon, which you may recall from the same page of the site, is the exact spot where Georgeies bike broke in his crash same day. Besides, if a rider in a race like that looked down and saw a "bent" bike I'll bet he will be waiting for the team car or teammate for a bike change.

I have a similar steel setup, oh yeah.
I love the feeling of drop bars and have always admired the quality and simplicity of Campagnolo stuff. But in reality, I don't like road riding. I'm a mountain biker complete with cutoff jeans and sleevless wool sweaters! I've worked at a bike shop and found this bike as described above, except without the drop bars, brake levers and shifters. It was a beautiful coffee brown and mocha color (read:dirt color.) If I ever decide to go downhilling, I'll put the orignal bar, campy topmounts and levers on. I must have this bike!
