I heard he had a stroke a while back but haven't heard anything else.

I don't know either, but had been wondering the same thing a couple months ago. He was a brilliant engineer and did contribute a lot to the bike industry. here is a link of his articles that Sheldon had on his site.

Still kicking afaik. I have friends in Silicon Valley and we'd all have heard if he passed. He's been a big inspiration.

Yup went to rec.bicycles.tech and strangely enough a post about him. He has a caregiver but still with us.
