I read recently that Heras has a two year ban.
Under the new Prostinktour guidelines isn't the ban suppose to be 4yrs-life.

Riders are banned from competing on Pro Tour teams for 2 years in addition to the ban they receive from their local federation which is normally two years. So the way it works is:

1. busted.
2. protest innocence, get lots of lawyers involved.
3. receive your sentence of 2 years.
4. do your 2 year stint (all the while protesting your innocence)
5. after your 2 years is up, join a team at continental level (or below), if you can find one.
6. after an additional 2 years, join a pro tour team, if you can find one.

Note that the additional 2 years only applies if your offence occurred after the pro tour charter was ratified so riders like David Millar and Tyler Hamilton only have to serve the ban from their respective federations.
