this may be a dead horse but I am asking anyway.

Is it possible and what are the pros and cons of record shifters with full d-a drivetrain?

why you ask?
I want the carbon levers and hidden cables. but I already have the shimano.

Cons: you have to add a Shiftmate to convert the cable pull.

Pros: you get Campy shifters with all their advantages. The Shiftmate avoids a 90 degree bend in the cable housing.

How well will it shift? Well the Centaur 9 speed shifter, Shimano 9 speed MTB derailleur, Shiftmate and 12-34 cassette shifts wonderfully and this is on a tandem with the extra long cable run! Sad to say, but better than my all Campy systems are shifting at the moment. Time to re-cable the all Campy systems I think.

Consider Nokon cables. Pretty sweet look with the mostly hidden front cables.

Are you thinking nokons with the shimano and the thumb loops or campy with nokons to be able to do the 90 degree turn with out a rollamajig.

I was thinking Nokons with your current Shimano shifters. Yeah, it leaves a little cable showing around the thumbs but it's mostly hidden and pretty trick looking.

Sounds cool, do you know of a picture on the web of this type of setup?

Cool, looks very trick. I've read on the net that setting up Nokon cables can be a real pita. Does anyone have advice on working with the cables, I think I'm going to give it a try.

and then buy him a six pack...or a six 13...

soon as I mentioned Nokon to my mech he got the shakes and had to sit down. Satan's cables. :)

They do sound good though...

Do a search before you take the plunge. Here's one thread to read:http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=8936&highlight=nokon+cables
