the jerk set the colnago tt bike up today with drop bars so its now a regular road bike; albeit one with a 117mm headtube. the bars are really low, but the thing feels pretty good. by the time the setaback is accounted for it fits and balances exactly the same as a 61cm colnago road bike. same front center, trail, rake, stay length everything. with the pmp setback post its the jerk's c50 but with a far shorter head tube; the experiment begins and so far it is just about perfect.

did you do this to give yourself an alternative to the BLE?

ps: who are the new wheels treating you (the wheels that come in a set of four)?

Didn't that bike have a slack(er) than usual HT angle?

And what would that be?

And what's "the experiment", anyway?

jerk

bmw 330ci... ok maybe the best ever would be an m3 but that would be a bit over the top....plus the jerk just put 19" m3 wheels on it so it looks nice. it's very balanced, very fast and very nice. the jerk has always had volkswagons and audis and the bimmer is in a different class. the rear wheel drive is neat-o two.

bike stuff: the experiment is to see how low is too low in terms of the front end. the tt bike has the exact same geometry as the jerk's c50 except it sits a little lower. we'll see how it works out. it looks sort of stupid in a track bike sort of way; a ride report will follow tomorrow.

Mazel Tov on the Bimmer. I concur - Cars don't get better that the 3 series. A 330i would be my preference, but I'm a family guy...

...and I'm just deciding how soon to flip my 6 degree stem to a -6...

Rear wheel drive, he!! yeah.

OK, I get it. Was asking about the HT angle because Queen's Teschner is slack and needs a good head of steam before the steering is responsive.

Hey, if you ever want me to get you in touch with my pal Jim. He's a Bmr mechanic and claim to fame is he dropped an M3 engine/drivetrain into a POS BMr 3something with a quick change posi rear. Runs 4:11s in town just to skrew with the ricers...it is hilarious...pretty quiet even.

Back to the bike, not that I do not like the car talk, too, but what is the HT length on your c-50? 117mm is like something I would ride. You got the "olano" thing going on. Love to see a pic. Maybe both bikes one at a time for comparison?

I drove my friend's BMW 330i last fall. It is the new one and has the Sport Package. Very nice. I can't afford one. So I recently drove the new GTI. It is a lot of car for the money. Gonna wait though.

I really want my motorized transit to be the Ducati 749 dark I was looking at a few months ago. That thing just does it.

how does it feel to be a yuppie? ;)

as a former bmw driver i can say this...the biggest problem with bmw's is the @-holes who drive 'em. the cars themselves are amazing. the owners have tainted them. i keep thinking of creating a stealth machine: take a 3 series AWD wagon of the same vintage and trick the bejezus out of the engine, suspension and exhaust.

sweet ride, senor.
