Can anyone tell me the purpose of the hex nut right above the rear dropout on this frame?

Thanks

For fenders or rear rack.

Just an FYI: IMHO, that's pretty expensive for a steel Fierte.

I never thought to run a rack on my steel Fierte. I guess it was never the sleek racing machine I thought it was.

I agree that the seller has it overpriced. This is the 3rd time he has listed this frame with no bids on any of the auctions. He has also listed 2 other Serotta frames the same number of times with no bids so it would appear the marketplace agrees that his prices are unrealistic. I'm thinking the value on the Steel Fierte is around $800 - $850 given that its one of the later Fierte's and overall appears to be in very nice condition other than a few fairly minor paint blemish's. Does that seem like a reasonable value or is it still too high?

Too high. I paid that for NOS Ti Fierte.

Much more realistic (great price actually IMO) $ 450

For fenders or rear rack.

Seems a little strange, w/o eyelets up on the stays also.

Also odd that the frame is listed as new when it has clearly been built up - just look at the various chips/wear marks in the paint
