After flushing out a 7800 shifter with WD40, what type of lubricant should I use for the internals? The chain lubes on my workbench (Boeshield, ProLink and TriFlow) seem too thick/heavy or waxy.

It seems like I'd need a thin aerosol lube, correct?

At the least, I'd use TriFlow. Personally I use NixFrixShun on our shifter internals. It stays on the parts it's applied to and provides continuous lubrication. I don't ride during the winter so I'm not worried about things bring too sticky. Thin lubes like TriFlow won't remain where applied in the shifters.

Good grease like Phil work very well too when cold temps aren't a problem.

Just about anyone that is aerosol, to get it 'in there'.
