Man this thing is nice! But I'll tell you this, if it even comes to fruition (or rather some semblance thereof...) it won't be made available in the States.

I could see a version of that here.

Looks like a Dodge Magnum to me, but a bit sleeker.

Yeah like the magnum but if it gets to the market it might have more success than the magnum and more appeal also.

Korean car manufacturers are getting quite sophisticated lately.

Having owned a Kia happily for 156,000 miles, I'd tap that.

I seriously doubt it's tall enough inside for bike hauling.

I would agree AND not being able to read Korean, what exactly makes this thing a bike hauler?

Doesn't look like those rear seats fold.

and then you call it a bike hauler :).

Needs a TD.

It'd have to be lying on its side. But, then, that's true for virtually all wagons.

What is a TD?

My guess is a turbo diesel.

My daughter's 2012 Honda CRV will haul my 56 CM bike fork mount inside. It has a very low floor. Haul two actually. I don't think it's very good looking, but is good value for the money.

I need 36" of height. Fit, Explorer, Flex, all minivans, works, not sure of others. New Honda HRV coming soon (Element replacement?) based on Fit but larger with the magic seats s/b a fine fork mounted bike hauler. Priced right also.

Has anyone seen/heard what the pricing on the Honda HRV will be?

Price for a HRV ? Enough to make you consider the Fit :P

So that would be the $20k to $25k range.

Ralph
02-18-2015, 10:57 AM
Yep.....and it's going to be a great bike hauler. A little wider, taller, and longer than a Fit...with magic seats. If you are looking for luxury, look elsewhere, but for basic vehicle, I bet it will be fine.

Yawn. I'd go with this in that segment:

The Mazda won't haul bikes upright inside fork mount. The Fit and HRV will. Talking bike haulers here. Lots of us choose at least one of our vehicles by how well at least 2 bikes fit inside.

The Element or the Transit have to be near the top of the "bike-hauler" list.

Nowhere on that page are bikes mentioned, and that includes the comments.

Rear bucket seats look cool in concept, but are not terribly useful in real life. I'm looking at you, Porsche 928!

lots of threads out there about diy racking systems for inside the fit.
no need for a 25k + hearse

The Honda Element is no longer in production. The Ford Transit is directed toward short haul commercial purposes. Also may configure it for professional contract work like plumbers, HVAC, siding and windows install, etc. The interior height can be specified and is has a low floor due to being a FWD. There is a consumer model a lot like many CUV's so you can get 3 rows of seats.

Funny story: They all come from Turkey with rear seats, belts and side windows. In Baltimore, they strip that stuff out for shredding and recycling. It costs Fords hundreds, but they "save thousands" in tariffs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicken_tax).

I couldn't believe it either . . . :crap:

If Fit came with AWD, I'd be there in an instant. But the winter we're in the midst of has reaffirmed my desire for AWD in my next car.

The main problem my sister has with her Fit in Maine is ground (snow) clearance.

the JDM Jazz came in AWD. unfortunately everything is different.
the HRV is nice, but completely takes away from the simplicity of the fit.

however...

what would I change about my 2013 fit sport?
not awd..since good rubber takes care of both summer and winter.
i want MORE POWER ! .... and a 6th gear. which they added to the 2014/2015.

The new Honda HRV will have AWD as option.

I'm not saying the new HRV is anything more than a cheap small Honda with good reliability and resale, just saying it's going to be slightly wider, taller, and longer than a Fit, with Civic engine, and will have same magic seats as Fit. So for price of low 20's, it will be a good bike hauler.

I had a 2010 Element. It hauled bikes good, but I hated driving it. Seat belt came from top of seat instead of side pillar, and killed my shoulder. Older Elements belts came from side pillar. Did buy it new, and sold it 2 years later for $2000 less than I bought it for. Incredible resale, and used ones are out of sight. Can buy a newer minivan for less.

Ford Transit won't be low $20's in form you would want for all around use. Believe next generation of Transits will be US or Mexico made.

The hrv ain't no element. I'm on my second one. Wish Honda would have kept making something more like it.

Is HR-V supposed to stand for "high roof vehicle"? Certainly doesn't look tall enough to hold my 64cm sickle. Growing tired of taking off saddle/seatpost to get the beast into my Accord Sport with rear seat folded down...think I'd get even more tired of living with the HR-V's 138 bhp. Quickly.

P.S. Honda, if you're going to tout the cargo area, at least show a picture of it. Even better, show it holding a 63cm MX Leader and I'll buy both.

P.S.S. Apologies, Honda. The Versatility page was slow to load. It will hold a ficus. And a kayak. And Minwax. At the same time!

Had Honda offered this when I was looking to replace the Integra a year ago I would have probably test-driven one, but now that I have the Subaru they missed out on that sale. The fast version reminds me of the the WRX.
