Some background to that - the design firm who came up with the concept do a lot of work with Canary Wharf Group, who are one of the companies who opposed the cycling super highway that was recently approved.

The "journey" that would be put underground in their concept takes, on average, 60 seconds currently - on roads that are in the sunlight.

I think Boris' suggestion that we put the motorised vehicles underground, leaving the surface free for people to walk and cycle makes rather more sense than the other way round!
