Who is still riding their Fixie this time of year? I guess the guys working on a serious season are on to other things, but I'm not working on a serious season. More importantly, I'm having a freakin' Blast.

I had a fixie a few years ago that was made out of wet noodles, so the experience was no bueno, but now, I dunno, it's great!

Things here have changed a bit on the homefront, also. With the little one a little older, Daylight Savings kicking in, and our schedules more steady, there is something amazing happening..... I'm able to ride more. I got 10 hours last week. I have not been able to do that is SO long.

That may be part of my elation. It's like rediscovering cycling, with all of my quiver (Road/Mtn/Fixie/Cross) getting use.

Thank G-D for Daylight savings!

Ok, so this thread went a little bit of everywhere, but, whatever. I guess my point is I'm glad to be back in the saddle!

Actually Argos, I just decided to take my single speed on vacation to Captiva, Florida in a week and a half.

Rather than risking the carbon bars and nice bikes traveling to a place with no convenient local bike shop (Bike Route closed their island shop in November), I decided to take the Raleigh.

I changed gearing from 39-16 to 42-16 and am bringing both a 14T and 17T cog in case I need to make adjustments.

It should make for fun riding for my 2-2.5 hours each day before my wife wakes up.

i actually did the circuit doing nursing home rounds yesterday.
i wore my keen sandles and took it nice and easy.
with rain in the forecast,
i'm sticking with my fixed commuter with fenders.
i've had the ottrott out
but it sure feels strange when i coast.
i just leave it in one gear,
but riding it as a freewheel
just doesn't give the same sense of freedom and power!

More importantly, I'm having a freakin' Blast. The nice thing about not training for anything in particular is you can ride what you want, when you want, how you want. I've been riding the fixie a good bit lately but rode it very little earlier in the winter.

No rules RULES.

With the 10 month old mobile baby boy, I have had little to no time to ride. If I could, it woud be on the fixed gear.

Can't wait for the 1 year mark when I can tote him in the trailer  - gonna be a ***** getting back in shape, but I am looking forward to sharing the bike with the little guy.

Being a dad is by far my favorite passtime - kids are a blast!

Standing in the way of a serious season are, for me, my schedule and my grip on reality. I'm not just riding the fixie all the time, but I did ride it this morning and I did have fun.
