Oh, this is bad. Not a good way to start the day. I most certainly hope heŽll recover.

Horrible news. He seems like such a nice kid, and a promising rider. Let's hope for a fast, full recovery.

I first passed over this thread because I thought his injuries were contained to broken bones. Wow, this is just horrible news. I hope he improves greatly before his parents arrive. My heart goes out to them.

i hope he recovers quickly and well, too. he seems a very promising rider. a sad reminder how dangerous the sport can be.

A hard story to read after a good ride in to the office. Sending good thoughts your way, Saul.

I read the story this morning on Velonews.com and was so bummed out I could not even post anything about it.

This is the worst nightmare of all of us, especially his family.

Hopefully, there will be swift steady improvement.

I just read the story. What horror, I feel pretty lucky now that I'm still alive.

Very scarey indeed. Although the reports from some of the other riders around him about him being in a "trance like state" along with the seizure he had a couple of years ago may point to some sort of underlying condition. I hope he recovers quickly and well. But it sounds like he and his doctors may need to reassess whether cycling is a sport he can safely continue to pursue. It's dangerous enough when everyone is conscious!

Doctors say he's in stable condition now.
