I'm on the verge of giving up on my hunt for 165mm 7950 crankset and starting to look at the much, much more available 6750 and 6850, which also happen to go for about half or less of the cost, new or used.

What's the difference, aside from a few grams and aesthetic? Is there a difference between 6750 and 6850 (if the 6800 series uses the "50" designation- I'm just assuming) aside from bolt pattern? The 7900 series being heavily praised for improved ring shifting, I just don't want any decrease in performance.. so I guess what I'm asking specifically: does Ultegra of concurrent vintage carry the same improvement?

10s vs 11s but hollow rings, optimized for Di2, both(as is 7900). Any chainring combo on 6850 but shimano rings only(now). Same 24mm spindle and cross compatible BBs(use 5700/5800 as well).

Either good choice. But if ya ever think ya may go to 11s, like hubs, get the 11s compatible one. 11s crank seamless with 10s system, 10s crank with shimano 11s may see some chain to fder rub at extremes.

DA has hollow rings. There isn't really a 6850. There is a 6800 which can be configured as a compact, mid-compact, or standard using the same crankarms.

Fairwheel's crank review indicates Ultegra 6800 is stiffer (albeit heavier) than DA 9000. That was surprising.

The Ultegra rings are the same hollow design.

So I could expect the exact same shift quality?

I have both 7900 and 6800. They both shift awesome. Nothing beats Shimano front shifting. Nothing.

Weight and appearance. On the bike you won't really notice a diff between ultegra and dura ace. Latest ultegra is that good
