There's a Serotta on eBay that would be a pretty good fit for me, but I've been holding back because it seems to have a threaded headset. Here's the eBay link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Serotta-Legend-Ti-Titanium-Road-Bike-Frame-Merlin-/331464180550?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d2cce0346. My question is whether it would be possible to get a different fork and headset and go threadless? Can that be done? Thanks.

Yep, you can change to threadless. The right fork and headset and you are set.

But the swap may not be worth the trouble and expense. Threaded forks and headsets have worked fine for a long time. It is very likely a 1" version so you might not be happy with available 1" threadless forks.

Just watch the ding on the drive side chain stay, near the factory indentation.

Investigate 1" threadless forks and see if it's worth the switch. I've got no issue with the 1" threaded fork on my steel Serotta. I'd also pass on the dent...but I'm patient when it comes to bikes.

I can think of at least three threadless forks that I would want over the current one. Ritchey, wound up, and the columbus muscle. It's obviously only my opinion, but worth looking at.

That's a bike with some stories behind it. Dented chain stay, older threaded fork/headset in spite of later model 3D dropouts… I'd stay away.

And have to say I've seen better pics from security cameras.

I didn't notice this wasn't already purchased. I would let it pass as well.

I think so. Last year I sold a 1" Ouzo Pro in less than pristine condition for over $300 on the bay (after a couple passed here for much less). Did have 240mm of steerer, but still, seemed like too much.

I had a Waterford RS1100 with a Profile Design fork with 1" steerer and liked it fine.
