From the Albany NWS:

Today: Periods of rain, mixing with snow after 10am. High near 41. Northwest wind 7 to 10 mph increasing to between 15 and 18 mph. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

It's going to be great.

Hairy ride in the morning. Rain coming down hard with lots of standing water.

Over here it is still going sideways.

I have to admit, if you're riding this morning in it you're more dedicated than I am. I am waiting for the rain to let up a little, that's why I'm riding in the afternoon.

Our Monday night club rides started last night. Bruce K and I were there. The weather was low 40s and it was starting to spit, but the seven of us decided to head out at 6pm anyway. We were all thinking why are we doing this.

It was a great lesurely paced ride, about 19 miles at 16mph. Some light rain and freezing rain mixed in. Those ice pellet sure do sting when they hit your face, but good friends and cycling what can be better.

I think it only appropriate that you try to get a couple family members and friends to stand along the sidelines of your route waving these:

I'd go out in this weather if someboby would pay me to...
But I can't ride fast enough to stay warm

Also, I'll require a suonior (sp?) to clean my bike after the ride

There may still be an open bike in my spin class tonight. We could have the desk lady come in and wave the Flanders flag if that would help!

I'm a wienie. Yesterday and today, the weather is both cold and rainy so I didn't commute to work, but that's okay I reasoned... because Wednesday and Thursday are forecasted for nice and clear. Now this morning I see the forecast for tomorrow might include a.m. snowshowers. It's bad enough that at 6am it's basically pitch black out, but snow too???

Maybe Thursday will be better.

We had this yesterday but were surpirsed by sunshine in the late afternooon. I had an enjoyable ride--the 25-30 mph winds (gusts up to 45) were great for the mental stamina (or something)
Hope you get some sunshine today (hope we do too!)

. . . may already be out on the road, as I am sitting in the newsroom and there were just scanner calls for a jumper from the Crescent Bridge over the Mohawk River. I hope he was on the Ti Legend instead of the CSI or he's going to have some rust problems . . .

It cleared up, stayed about 40 degrees, I had a following or cross wind when I started, by the time I got home it was flat calm. About 32 miles, not fast but fun. Nice night.

80 minutes of fixed gear bliss.
the cool crossing winds were no
match for my inventory-of-happy
having raced this past sunday.

1:45 of 70-degree, sunshine bliss

however

my teammates did not enjoy dodging my pollen-generated snot balls as I hacked them out every 3-5 minutes while we did doofuspacing*

they're kids. they can deal.

*doofuspacing: when your college-kid teammates have not been following their schedules for the past four months, or keeping training logs, or getting in any base miles. mp. this team of 4s and 5s is mp even for the doof, and doof is mp. so, doof has the lil brats sit in his draft while he does 2 x 20, and yells at em to sprint at 10, jump back in his draft, and sprint again at 20. mp.

at least doof is getting some jerseys out of this....

1:30 total. 50 min of tempo during a few snow squalls and some "wintery mix". Very cool. Made it feel like cross season.
