Why did Campy stop pantographing components for bike companies? The only thing interesting, and custom they have done in a while, is to make some dumb black parts for team ONCE a few years back...wow...What happened?
Maybe Richard Sachs and campyonly could do something about it? Or Serotta...Hmmmm.....custom Serotta decals on carbon levers and cranks? Well maybe not... sad days..

i think the companies pantographed their own stuff... but those bikes were cool for sure.
there is nothing to look at metter than a sr crankset w/ panto rings on a classic italian bike.
nice

Campagnolo didn't pantograph components...as a matter of fact, it voided their warranties. There were a number of pantographing shops in Italy who would do contract work for builders. I also like the looks of some pantographing, but the sharp edgfes left by the engraving would often create stress risers in the alloy that would encourage cracks to form...and failure with long-term use. Luckily, the parts from this era were designed with reserves of strength, so the disasters were rare.

If you are into panto, go for it. There are lots of engraving places
who can do this kind of work for you.

wow, thanks for the great information! Maybe I'll have cute ducks, or yellow bananas engraved on my cranks.

Why did Campy stop.........
http://www.raydobbins.com/bianchi/photos/photo19.htmlthat generation of Campag cranks is my all-time favourite, sexy crank, and I was DEVASTATED when they stopped embossing the logo :( :p
I still have 4 sets of them (1 Record, 2 Chorus, 1 Athena) but they're all 170s, which I no longer use.

To get around the chrome thing, I bought one of these, which has nickel 'ends' -- close enough :)
