Caught this on my local NPR station, NHPR's Word of Mouth.

Basic premise is that being cold increases your body's metabolism in a big way. The shiver ride is the new low and slow! Take a cold shower when you're done to increase the effectiveness.

Haha, keep in mind, the guy promoting this is from the deep south, so his idea of cold is 50s and 60s.

I'm from Manitoba, he's welcome to come on up here if he still needs to lose weight :fight: (does a popsicle continue to lose weight? )

This explains why I feel like eating 500 calories/hour on rides under 30. The problem is my food freezes on rides around 20 degrees...

If you literally "freeze your butt off"

you GOTTA lose some #'s, right?

This explains why I'm hungry all the time, riding almost every day commuting thru winter. Does not explain why I can't lose weight, even eating under budget (including exercise calories). ;-(

Drink ice water! Lose weight! (The math doesn't bear it out, unfortunately).
