boonen was on some regular ambrosio tubular rims...fulcrum doesn't really make a shallow section style tubular wheelset...so they broke out the stuff that works.

anything with cobbles they use regular rectangular section tubulars.... probably 36 spokes, pretty heavy... but i think probably ok.
