Written installation instructions quite well done.

I had the tabs break off a 510 in an v1 K-Edge mount (without plastic insert) after hitting a hole. Fortunately I had it tethered to my handlebars. Garmin RMA'd it after I called to complain and after scolding me for not using a genuine Garmin™ out-the-front mount.

Great to see this available.

but will provide a refurbed unit for $90. just rumor.

More than a rumor. I just got my replacement a few days ago. It wasnt a broken tab, but I don't think it manners what the failure is.

If it's out of warranty. In warranty = replaced free.

I have two ver 1 k edge mounts. My garmin 500 has lasted 2 years now on those mounts. I went ahead and ordered this though.

I got an $89 refurbed unit a couple of years ago after my 500 battery failed.

Nice, a guy in Aus was making them, but not actively selling them worldwide.

Sad that the product needs to exist...tsk tsk, Garmin.

Why blame Garmin? These failures are from using aftermarket mounts.

Tabs are breaking on Edge 500 and 510 with both Garmin mounts as well as aftermarket mounts through normal use (not crashes).

800s, too. One of my tabs broke off randomly when I removed it from the (Garmin) mount. Superglued it back, has been ok for ~500 miles and counting, but I fear it will snap mid ride and the Garmin will bounce away and a car will run over it.

I would much rather see some sort of removable case with new tabs than something like this. With my luck, I would install one of these and the unit would fail shortly after. I'm guessing Garmin won't honor their replacement program once one of these has been glued/screwed to the back.

Blame Garmin then :)
