Anytime I see a steel bike with a repaint and replacement fork, I'm suspicious about what happened to the original fork. Nothing wrong with repaired bikes if they were done correctly, but it is nice to know the history. I've got one bike myself that had repairs and is one of my favorite riding bikes. Repairs were done by the original builder.

Agreed. That being said you can get a great deal because of the missing fork.

One of my landsharks came to me that way and I've ridden the snot outta it.

I emailed the seller and this is his response:

"The original fork for some reason that even John Slawter couldn't explain had a 26.0mm crown race for which there are no headsets available so I replaced it with a new carbon fork and ditched the original. "
