I'll be back in Va by then. Just two hours down the road (I mean, depending on traffic), with a train option . . . nice.

Who is planning on going? A bunch of folks, self included, from my team are going from Indy to Richmond for this.

Does anyone have a link to the road course? I'm guessing it's going to be fairly hilly.

I'm hoping to make it. I have family just outside of Fredericksburg. I might grab a hotel room for a few days.

Richmond doesn't believe in hills.

I don't remember any real hills in downtown Richmond but the map lists 785 ft of elevation. Are there hills down by the James river and the old tobacco factories?

Been on the proverbial calendar ever since it was announced. Looking forward to it.

Ditto.

Also the last guy that helped me with Bethel lives in that area now, just outside of Richmond. He told me I had to come down with the family to visit so we could all go see Worlds.

No idea of (future) work might get in the way but I hope not.

I am stoked about the Worlds and see this as another to my relocation to Alexandria, VA. I am thinking train with my bike and a backpack and see what happens once I arrive.

This will be the first "real" pro racing event I'll attend, and i'd like some advice regarding it from people who have spectated events located down town.

My main concern is that traffic will be hell (RVa has somewhat bad traffic to start with), and with an estimated 400k people (let's assume 300k on the final day in 80k vehicles), it's going to be quite a bit to handle for the highway system given there is no public transit in RVa.

One of the main issues is hotel location as the places close to the venue are either sold out or are hiking up their prices by ~200% (a $125 Holiday Inn Express is charging $350). However, if the traffic ends up being terrible, paying extra for one night so that i don't have to worry about parking may not be such a bad deal. Anybody happen to have insights on just how long a 7-8 mile normal drive might end up taking during such an event?

Tickets: i know there are vip viewing areas along the start/finish, but what about other sections such as Libby Hill, etc? Are you allowed to bring your own food and drinks (I guess this is more aimed at those who have been to town-center events in CA or CO).

Anything else i should worry that I might not have even thought about?
