I'm sure all of us can think of at least one rider we know who would snap up one 'o these in a flash!

...but I have wondered if there will ever be a cycling computer based on GPS or if this is simply not workable. If it is, it would eliminate the need for a magnet and sensor and would only have the handlebar attachment.

BTW, I am currently riding sans/senza/ohne (my 3 Swiss languages) computer and loving it!! :D

that uses GPS for speed, altitude gain/loss and distance, as well as incorporating a heart rate monitor. It was written up in yesterday's Wall Street Journal and compared to a Garmin device that doesn't have a heart rate monitor. Neither has any map capabilities though.

Was that 'map' capabilities, or were you trying to say 'mad' capabilities?

The whole thing is bonkers to me.

Mmmm, no thanks.

I learned my lesson early on; while tuning the radio I drove my almost-new 1978 VW Scirocco into a car in a place it had no business being. Major bummer, that was my dream car du jour.

Is the phone hands-free compatible? This world is going nuts.
