states are raising the taxes on your smokes higher and higher every year- you larger companies are lowering prices to off set the higher taxes-

some of the smaller guys cant or wont-

did you take up smoking?

It is called market segmentation. Cigarettes are the product with the highest margin other than cocaine. Therefore, prices depend upon the market the producer wants to reach. The rich won´t be caught dead smoking a cheap cigarette brand regardless of the taste of the cigarette which is an acquired taste anyway. And the cigarette with the most "exotic" tobaccos is not significantly more expensive to manufacture than the run of the mill kind. I don't want to insult anyone but I think that smoking is, er, not a very smart thing to do.

I hope this ain't a funny question, e-RICHIE! :cool:

The Camels ate the Marlboros, got very sick and died, leaving only the Kents. Then supply and demand took over. :rolleyes:

wow - i spend the morning with weir-issimo, come
home and have a late lunch (hummus yo) before
starting 2nd shift, see a thread about cigarettes
come and go in the course of 10 minutes, and get
side-tracked on why the prices were different. ya'
can't make this stuff up cery.

I got away with passing the high top version of those off as combat boots for four years in the air force. Started off hiding them in galoshes but as I cared less and less I stopped trying to hide them and my sargeant, knowing that I didn't care anymore didn't try to stop me. He didn't care either.
