Here is a painting that I made last year. It was inspired by a perfect monday in Florida. The waves were coming in one after the other in chest high sets. I sat on the beach with my mom and marveled at the day, the waves, and the three guys out there surfing. I had to commemorate the day somehow.

Acrylic? Oils? I dig it and having a Jack Johnson quote in your signature is a nice touch! Nice work!

Thanks man! Acrylic it is ... I did a series of them, and one is in Costa Rica at a friend of a friend's surf house. I kept this one myself. Sentimental reasons. The other is in Jax Beach in the home of my pal/surfer extraordinaire...I am going to pick it up again this summer. Paint brush that is....Aint jack great? Love that whole vibe. I play guitar too...and his stuff is great inspiration. Got Floor seats for the Pearl Jam Show in June. ROck on.

Real nice stuff. It's always refreshing to see the other things (outside of cycling) we enjoy around here. Let's see some more!

Just paintings, or will other artwork find a place here. I've never posted any of my work on this forum 'cuz it falls into a grey area with the Forum rules...

Love the sketchbooks most:) For whatever reason these small works are often most essential of what an artist has to offer. True for me anywho of all the greats and MOM too :) Recently I hung a show for her in a public library. We only put up 5 large pieces and in a glass case we opened many of her sketch books to interesting pages. The staff really liked her small works.
Is this your hobby or an avocation?
Thanks dewd.

tootall, this has kind of been my 'thing' -- drawing and painting since I was a little kid. I got my masters in Education and Fine Art in 1992. The economy wasn't supporting education at the time and I went into technology sales. Spent 10 years without really picking up a paint brush. In 2003 I landed a job as an art teacher...full time...pubic school. I have been keeping journals and sketchbooks since then. Filled 8 maybe with little paintings and thoughts, lyrics from bands I love like Pearl Jam and Jack Johnson. Words that seem to inform the artwork.
I am a chronic doodler in my lesson and date books and never keep a water color tablet too far from reach.
The Surf Painting at the top of this thread is the first painting that I completed -- after my 10 year hiatus in the world of commerce -- thanks for the kind words.
Two Goals for the summer are to paint more larger works to show next year...and lose 20 lbs. doing what I love on the Serotta...and ride the waves in Cape May for a week or so.
