I was finally getting around to building up the bike I had bought these for, so I put tires on, put the quick release on the rear wheel and put it on the bike, put the quick release on the front - no wait, that was where I found a gaping hole where the axle end should be :confused:
This had me completely baffled for an hour or so at least but it eventually occurred to me that when I had unpacked these wheels, the plastic axle protector discs had been extremely tight and between that and me being in rather a big hurry at the moment I yanked them off pretty hard, and after that the discs were kicking around the room for a while and eventually got thrown out; and I'm reasonably sure that the axle end came out with that disc, since it's held in the axle only by an O-ring and groove and the friction between the axle protector disc and the end of the axle was so great I'm thinking it must have come out together.
I don't suppose this has ever happened to anyone else? I hope not anyway?
