My wife may have to go to Newport Beach for work. Does anyone know of a place there that she can rent a nice road bike? She'll miss a couple weeks of our training here in CO, and would want to get some riding in while out there. Nothing as nice as her Orbea, but something decent so she can get some miles in.

Thanks-

That's Wooly's neighborhood, maybe he can help.
Greg at Sandpiper in Seal Beach rents bike but I don't know if they are just beach cruisers or not. That would be about 12 miles north from N.B. Sandpiper Bike Shop 231 Seal Beach Boulevard Seal Beach, CA 90740 562-594-6130

Laguna Cyclery (www.lagunacyclery.net) does rent nice road bikes on occasion if you ask nicely.

is the only one I can think of that rents. About 20 minutes south of Newport. Take PCH south, pass thru Main Beach (you'll see basketball courts on the beach), take a left on Thalia Street and it a red barn on the left. Call to confirm the rental thing. I've never done it and haven't heard recently whether they still do it.

Rock n Road sometimes "demos' bikes. They're located off of La Paz in Laguna Niguel (about 30 minutes southeast of Newport) and Edge Cycle Sports peiodically has a demo bike or two. They're off of Moulton Parkway in Lake Forrest. (949)555-1212 for information.

Good luck. What size bike does she ride?

Thanks for the helpful info. She rides a 54. I'll pass this info along to her. She's not sure if/when she'd be going yet, but it may be in about a week or two.
