The tire feels like it’ll be durable and so far rides as expected. I came from a very similar Donnelly mso xplr 650bx2.0. The teravail has better traction on trails, but is a tad slower on the road (going by buzz-o-meter on smooth concrete)…though not enough to make it annoying. basically exactly what I was hoping for.

What a way to end the year! High of 48 for the day, so we gravel heads got together in Old Chatham to close out the year on a gooey, muddy note after plenty of rain the night before. Our beautiful clean gear wasn't that way for very long as we got onto Bashford Road and things got real dirty, real slick, and real steep real quick. The steepest grade on the rwgps map was 9.9%, but at one point I saw 15% on my Garmin. But everybody had a good time and we could end the year saying "We did it!"

With no snow I've mainly resorted to fat biking.
Today was nice conditions, 15F, frozen ground.
The warm wet parts in the woods froze and heaved up these ice growths that look like mushroom clusters.

Rode up and over the coastal mountains via Santa Rita Rd in Templeton, CA yesterday. An out and back ride to Whale Reservoir. Absolutely beautiful ride and the road was perfect after our recent rains. The Newts were friendly, but loaded with tetrodotoxin. I rode Gravelking 38 file treads and had no problem with traction even in the loose stuff. I think it’s because I weigh so much.:beer:

Stole a flat 50 spin in a weird warm spell between storms. Several incredible moments of the quiet that we are all looking for from time to time. Rode right through a murmuration of starlings in the farmers' fields.
Later on the road goes through the wetlands on the south side of the lake. The only sound echoing across the plain was the calls of a large group of sandhill cranes.
Everything was so beautiful I overcommitted on the distance (that's the trouble with an out-and-back ride), but all's well that ends well.

New place, new pics. Spent the week in Altea, Spain and the riding is sublime…..
Great infrastructure (mostly new tarmac), great rental bike options and support, tons of cycling cafes (Velosol was awesome), and most of the Pro teams are here this week too, so you can gauge exactly how normal you are when a Lotto Soudal train comes past you on one of the climbs :cool:

Got a little overzealous after my ride the other day. (There's just something about stealing January rides that never should have happened.)
Decided that two nice days in a row meant I could ride up the canyon. Wonderful ride, until it wasn't. Came around a corner toward the top of the climb, and suddenly the whole road was a sheet of ice. Hit the deck pretty good. Managed to absorb all of the impact with my body and protect the bike. Got out of it with just bruises and some hurt pride (nothing like laying on the ice unable to unclip as cars slowly drive around you to make a person humble).
Anyway, I also snapped this photo:

Sunny and warm today in Arizona. Mixed canal, single track, road, greenway loop.
A steep paved climb led to some new to me really fun, technical single track on the 8a and 8 trails in Phx Mtn Preserve.
The rutland 650b 2.1” are proving to be a great tire for trails and quite tolerable for the road.

Those are fantastic shots! I can’t figure out if that’s the Santa Monica mountains or the Marin Headlands. Looks pretty dry for the Headlands. But that does look like Diablo in the background.

Did the ride over Santa Rita Rd. in North SLO county again today. Just as nice as a couple of days ago, but markedly drier. Whale Rock Reservoir was looking good and you can *just* get a glimpse of the Pacific over the mountain tops.
Also just loved the irony of the gate and “peace“ sign.

Super gusty yesterday on Martha's Vineyard too, but at 40F it was 25 degrees warmer than Tuesday's ride!

Nice recovery ride on the DeRosa today. Up to Lopez Reservoir, southeast of San Luis Obispo, which is in the background of this photo. Still a lot of dry lakebed, but now up to 30% capacity from a low of 24%. Least we’re going in the right direction.

Not sure where you live....-40 is the temperature where the Celsius and Fahrenheit scales both indicate the same temperature. -40C = -40F.

Picked up a used Sony RX100 IV, then get a strap so I can snap more on my rides.
I never felt comfy pulling out my phone to take photos. Even with a bar bag, my phone is inside another smaller bag. Not very handy.

Photographers sometimes call those "never-ready" cases. If you're serious about using the camera, you just have to have it almost out and nearly ready to use. When I used to bring my RX100 with me on rides, it went in a jersey pocket with no outer case. (Now I'm lazy and just use an iPhone that has two focal lengths.)

Right, makes sense. I think the strap will make it easier to “being ready”. Also I’d feel less appreciative dropping my 2nd hand compact camera vs my iPhone.

New machine! Finally been able to start getting the groundwork laid for a strong year. It's everything I've wanted for sometime. Titanium, 3 bottle cage mounts, road components, silver touch points mixed with some birthstone turquoise - its great.

It's a Ritchey stem that was painted for another bike that didn't fit the gentleman who purchased it so I snagged it! It's my favorite color so I was quite pleased. I would love to get the fork painted the same color but that's a project for another day.

A few photos from a new loop on Sunday that had a bit of everything; really highlighting the versatility of the Stigmata.
An hour of smooth gravel canals led to the western terminus of the #100 trail in PHX Mtn Preserve for a few hours of often very technical single track finished with a fast hour on pavement averaging over 20mph…:banana:

Wife was at a course in SD, so why not come down with her and bike while she's learning?? Did my ride on Saturday in Los Penasquitos Canyon Trail. Pretty flat and heavily trafficked. Lots of little offshoots so I got lost a few times. A nice speedy loop.
Sunday, I got to hang with my bud Allan, the first Paceliner I met in person! As an aside, he's also building my wife's roadie.
He took me to his local trail and it was so fun! Also, he's such a boss on the trail. Nimble like a cat! No mid-ride photos on my end because I was fearing for my life on this one. I am not aware of any such thing, I must say. Not a MTB'er. :confused:
Something tells me that if I don't wash the thing pretty well, they may gradually become one unit, however...
It's an older Hugi/DT hub rebranded for Specialized, IIRC.

At the end of the rim brake era, specalized had a similar hub with a QR that used 9mm diameter. The theory was similar to a thru axle but compatible with standard forks. No reason one couldn’t use them on a road bike.

Did a nice leisurely 9 miles with the PoDo(poodle doodle). Nice easy 10mph pace as he is not in shape for anything faster yet, Kinda like me at the present time.

Now my sons dog just loves to flat out run hard. He is a 3 year old Mt cuz. We take him on 15/20 mile faster gravel rides and he just loves it.
This was the fall of 2021. We did a 18 miler at 16 mph and he kept up the whole time.

Beautiful sunny day in the upper 70s. Beginning of Quartz Ridge trail in PHX Mtn Preserve; a technical descent on a gravel bike that my goal is to cleanly ride by years end. There are a few spots still that give me troubles requiring dismounts.

We got up at 5:00am and rode to the top of Mt Tam for the sunrise. It was 29F up there which probably the coldest its been all winter. Needless to say it was a splendid adventure.

A mountain cruz is a treeing hound the is from eastern Tenn/ southern WV. Most are squirrel dogs. Very athletic dogs that love to run.
My son takes this one on mt bike rides a few times a week from 10 to 25 milers and he just keeps going.

I use a Sony Rx1rii. And then run it through a custom filter. I have 4 filters that I use in photoshop.This filter is a bit overdone but it works for this photo. I appreciate and the compliments.

It varies per bike:
1. Hardtail MTB: oveja negra chuckbuckt drink holder
2. Gravel Bike: front handlebar bag (with a custom insert)
3) FS MTB and Road Bike: on my back with an Outershell camera strap.

Just under 30 today on the Nagasawa fixed gear, which doesn't usually get out in winter. But three sunny days in a row meant the roads were completely dry, and high 30Fs meant I can wear the clipless pedal shoes instead of boots for the pinned flats on the Litespeed. Breezy loop around Katama and the grass airfield, along South Beach. Always get a workout with this bike, one gear makes me ride harder!
