that's to offset the weight of the rivets holding badges to the frame.

Another thing I noticed is that Lynskey has an integrated/internal headtube, as evidenced by no lower headset cup. However, the top of the fork is not the same diameter of the lower end of the headtube. That looks really bad.

Agreed. Hopefully that is also a product of poor photoshopping because that is hideous.
