View Full Version : Correct Scotch-Brite for Litespeed brushed?

Hello All:
I have just acquired a 2002 Litespeed Blue Ridge. Its got a couple of spots I'd like to touch up. In searching I have gleaned that the grit/color of scotch-brite is essential for getting a match to the existing finish.
Anyone happen to know the proper Scotch-Brite color for circa 2002 brushed Litespeeds?
Thanks,
Jim

Hey Jim,

Did you just get that off of craigslist in the bay area? I was trying to convince a friend to check it out for my and even called about it but was a little too late. I hope you put the original fork back on it if that is the one. Congrats on the find, I've been looking for awhile but always a day late dollar short. Good luck getting her all shined up. I don't know what pad to use but I hope someone does for future reference. Ha, if you change your mind, I'll buy it off of you:)
Good luck and enjoy. Post some pics when you build it up.

I have a whole box of Norton Bear-Tex maroon pads. Like a huge box - 12"x12"x6". I used 1/4 of one pad to polish a Cinelli Grammo.

Send me your address and I'll send you 3-4 pads. If anyone else can use the box, let me know.

Here's the Bear-Tex cross-ref chart: http://www.nortonindustrial.com/uploadedfiles/sgindnortonabrasives/documents/catalog_pdfs/nortoncatalog-bear-tex-generalinfocrossreferences.pdf

Yes, that's the one. The guy turned out to be a shop owner so he had no issues dealing long distance. Very nice guy.
Yes, I got the original fork.
I am working slowly on building it up.
It came without decals. It will be my commuter and I am a professor at University of Utah so I am using U of U decals and painting the fork Ute Red. So far its looking pretty cool.
Will post pics.
Cheers,
Jim

I understood there were 2 grades of maroon, but perhaps was wrong.

I use maroon 3M pads from Advance Auto. They could well be the 7447's.

Roark(titanium custom frames near Indianapolis) gave me a white one to use on my Serotta Legend. Really made it shine.

I'm still in the process of painting the fork but this will give you some idea of the general direction I'm going with it. Now that I have uploaded it I see its not the best picture I've ever taken. More later.
Cheers,
Jim
