Is anyone on this forum a Yale Bonesman?

Does George W. or John Kerry ride bicycles?

On one of the Topica sites, I believe, it was stated that Kerry was a big cyclist. Apparently he finished high up in last year's ride across MA. But it's a vague recollection.

I'm not his campaign manager! I dunno.

Here's a link that indicates his support:

He's referred to as a "bicycling lawmaker". Interesting photos. One of Major Taylor's track bike.

Kerry finishe 37th out of 3,000 in Pan-Massachusetts Challenge in August. Pretty impressive.

But Bush leaves his Secret Service in the dust while running in the brutal heat of West Texas. So, Kerry better think twice before challenging the President to an endurance event.

John Kerry is not only a bicyclist but he rides Serotta's.

Well, you have to admit that Kerry must be a guy with a grand national vision, a Senator from Mass., riding a Serotta rather than a Seven or an IF.

Saw a t-shirt Monday here in Key West. Had a picture of George W.
Printed over the picture:
"Will somebody in (can't recall his hometown now) .....Texas please tell them we found their town idiot"
Must have either sold it or pulled it cause I cannot find it again!

Excerpt from a NY Times article about Kerry's trip to Sun Valley (taken w/o permission):

His plane, a chartered 737, disgorged dozens of staff members and journalists, as well as a full Secret Service detail. A top-flight racing bicycle was also along, in case Mr. Kerry, as serious a biker as he is a schusser, chose to go for a spin.

. . . what would the SS dudes on this trip have done? Run alongside him?

Sun Valley....Idaho?

What happened there? I heard something on the radio about a big powerbroking meeting today. Is it something similar to the World Economic Forum at Davos, Switzerland?

The evil axis of...politicians, media, and global finance. Nuke 'em, nuke 'em all!!

.. . You're just jealous because Kerry could drop you like a stone! ;)

Kerry went skiing there so Matt Drudge would have something to list above other matters of truly international significance, for example, Rummy denying he ever used the term 'imminent danger' w/r/t Iraq. Watch 'em dance ...

If Kerry is in fact, the Jerk, does that mean that Bostondrunk is Ted Kennedy? :D

isn't "Yale Bonesman" the name of a porno star? (for which a dancing banana is most fitting).

Thanks JohnS -

I think you've got this nailed.

Not to get repetitive (see old thread), but I believe the only way Sen. Kerry was 37th at last years PMC Day 1 was if he had motorized help.

He is a decent cyclist, but having freinds who finished in the top 10 riders into Mass Maritime Academy, it was a LONG time later before the Honorable Senator showed up.

He has been pleasant out on the ride, but beats a fairly hasty retreat on arrival at MMA (no burgers and Harpoon for him).

BK

PS to Kev - Thanks for "bumping" me off the Top 10, that was pretty scary company to be in.

Can you blame him for not hanging around? It's probably very difficult for any senator to mingle with "regular" folks in a situation like that without it turning into a political event, with constituents asking for things, people gawking, and all sorts of people wanting to grab the opportunity to give him an earful of one kind or another.

Sorry I got in too late to call you last night. I'll give you a call tonight!

I did the Kennedy ride with Kerry a couple of years ago. The weather sucked but he was a nice guy. He was riding a Serotta. He was a pretty good rider.
