...no problem if you use the correct shim. I used a Problem Solvers brand shim ($4-6 at most stores) and it was a clean and secure fix. If you have a steady hand and are skilled with your Dremel, you can shave off some of the edges off the shim to match the width of clamp on your stem, and you won't even notice the shim is installed.
