View Full Version : Question for Wahoo Kickr users

I had my Garmin Edge 800 on the bike while I was using the trainer for the first time this morning, and I thought that the Garmin would display the power/speed/etc. automatically through ANT+. However, that did not seem to be the case. So my question is, do I need to do something special to pair the Garmin with the Wahoo?

Thanks.

The Kickr always outputs Ant+ power readings so the Garmin 800 should pair with the Kickr just like you would pair any other power meter.

Just to extend the answer a bit. When you start up the Garmin and you are pedaling something to the effect of "Powermeter detected" should flash across the Garmin screen.

If not, you can go into the Garmin menus and under settings, bike settings for the current bike there is a ANT+ Power "tab". Hit it and you can have it search for power meters. It should find the Kickr.

If not, I'd look around the Wahoo web site for solutions.

fkelly - I did what you described and it is working now. Thanks a bunch.

just curious, should I expect to see ant+ speed output from the kickr? I tried it with Golden Cheetah, and it picked up my tickr and the kickr power, but nothing on speed

I get it using PerfPro, so I'd say yes.

Get it using Zwift

Thanks, I d/l perf pro, and it works there as a single device, so I was just assuming something about it that was incorrect.

Sorry to resurrect this older thread. For those that use their Garmin with the Kickr, do you also use the GSC10 to pick up cadence? Or did you buy the cadence pod from Wahoo? Does the cadence pod transmit to the Garmin?

I do. Not sure it makes a difference in this case, but since it's already on the bike I use it.

What I need to figure out is a way to get my Garmin to read speed and distance from my Kickr, but still let me use my everyday power meter.

My Kickr's power readings are both quite high and not particularly stable. For example, to do a 370w interval with "Erg" mode, I've got to set the watts anywhere from 400 to 415w on a given day. Worse yet, that number often changes a bit as the Kickr heats up and the power drifts upward.

It's annoying enough that I might sell it after just a month.

Thanks. Been following that thread. Wish they'd address the underlying issue, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards. Perhaps they're going for "vanity watts" or something.
