Hi all, completely new to GoPro everything, but thinking of getting one.

Could someone please tell me the essential differences between Hero3, Hero3+ Silver, Hero3 Black? And are the Hero 4 versions that big an upgrade??

I'm in Canada, and I have an opportunity to get the Hero 3+ Silver on sale for $300 Can. tax in. (about $275 US).
I can also get the Hero3+ Black edition from the local costco, but it is more like $445 tax in, but probably with a little bit better warranty from Costco. It also says it is the 'action bundle'....not sure if that includes something different?

Help!

I would say go with the new hero 4 silver...it is the only model with a built in screen to see what you're recording.

To get that here would be about $200 more than a Gopro 3+ Silver would cost me. I think I can add the touch screen if needed later for about $100?
Too many choices with these things!!!

I think the lack of a screen was always the biggest shortcoming of an otherwise fantastic product.

You can add the screen as you mentioned but it will add bulk.

I'm sure you will be able to get one on sale over the holidays which will narrow the spread to the hero 3.

Just got back from shopping... :)
Saw the Gopro Hero 4 Silver at the store, standard MSRP $449 Can + tax, but they offered 15% off (and 30 day price protection), decided to bite the bullet and avoid having buyers remorse on the older model 3. Now to figure this thing out... Need to go back out tomorrow to buy a memory card and some sort of case to store this in..

Don't want to wait! :)
The local Best Buy has the Sony microSD 32GB (class 10) on sale for $23. Twice that for $64GB, but not sure if I need that much..
