Pretty amazing story and it has 89 views and 0 replies in over 24 hours here on a "cycling" forum.

A "What color bar tape should I use?" thread would probably hit 5 pages in the same amount of time.

I've got to agree with you, cat6. And what an incredible journey! Wish I had followed his blog while he was on the road.

I love reading/watching/viewing things like this…but…my mind soon wanders to the fact that I will never experience anything like it…

Pure jealousy…not unlike when I read/view Velotel's posts…although at least that has the remote possibility of being attainable! ;)

Chapeau to Charlie Walker for truly living life.

There are no posts because there is no controversy (unlike threads about which lube is best). Most of us are in total awe and jealousy of what this guy did.....

Slacker could have done it on a unicycle...

Or questions on the finish of your new Ti frame.

Inspirational for sure! This is something I have always wanted to do myself; I really wanted to do the Odyssey 2000. When my wife an I rode across the country, we met a guy from Switzerland, in Missoula, MT. He too was a journalist traveling the world

At the time, he had been on the road for a little over three years. He told us he was headed out of Missoula for Patagonia in a few days. He mentioned that after so much time on the road, the hard part wasn't traveling, but sitting still for more than 5 days at a time...

Back then the internet barely existed, so he was faxing travel stories back to papers and magazines in Europe. He said he primarily lived off the generosity of strangers and only kept his bike running with parts that bike shops were willing to give to him for free. He was in need of tires; his tires were quite literally threadbare and was waiting to score some tires before heading out.

I really admire people who do things like this. I will definitely be reading Charlies blog for some ideas / inspiration for my Ride the Divide trip in 2016.

Cheers,
KP
