I picked up a used C-40 without water bottle cages. Went to two LBS to get some cages and the mounting bolts on the C-40 are larger than any of the cages they had. Like a 5 mm vs 4 mm bolt/screw. Is this standard on a C-40 or did a prior owner replace the original mounts at some point. If 'standard' for some brands who makes a cage with the larger bolt holes? Thanks, John

They are smaller than 'standard' if I remember correctly but I don't know the exact size.

Ahh…I read that backwards…CF Colnagos do indeed take 4mm cage bolts. Just go to a decent hardware store and grab some M4 x 10mm button or socket heads.

Lowes sells metric stainless button head screws for a fairly reasonable price.

Ace Hardware is also a good source of stainless steel metric bolts.

Yes, the C40 and C50 bottle cage bolts are smaller than usual, I believe they are 4mm.

Easily found at any Home Depot.

The problem is the bolt is larger than normal. The current mounts take a larger bolt that does not pass through "normal" cages. I'll get some cheap plastic and drill them out.
