Peter, I know you probably don't want to buy from them, but Velomine has them for $150.

Actually talking to an 'alternative' supplier, distributor. Saw the $150 Velomine gig. And yup.

5/16 drill warmed up and ready. Talked to Butch at Moots, head builder, says drill away.

From what I understand, the Chorus EPS bits are all compatible with the discontinued Athena stuff.

Still, Athena would probably save a few bucks. I'd sell you mine if I didn't have plans for em.

Campagnolo NA says same connectors but firmware make the 2 not compatible. For Athena->Chorus EPS only, I'm told. SR./Record compatible throughout years.

I have ders and powerpack, Athena(not compatible according to Campag NA) and wouldn't buy from them anyway. Don't ask, just my opinion, etc..not keen on velomine either, but again...

Think I'll just keep the athena stuff as spares for the Merckx, and keep the Moots as my wet weather bikes, with freewheel and friction shifters. Don't have to clean it, works every day.

Grazie for the responses tho.

Oh sweet baby Jesus, drilling holes in works of art to run electronic's!

A wise old man once said," Really..even if octalink answered no question, solved no problem while adding a few?"

I'm surprised that wise old man didn't say the same for "electronic shifting" since it really didn't answer a need nor solved any problems while added another source of power besides human that could go on the blink and cause the whole set up to become useless. :)

So should one of my Athena parts crap the bed and I need a replacement, I'm hosed? If that's the case, that sucks.

C'mon, gotta be some reason to own a bike shop and this MXLeader is kinda knackered, not pristine like my Molteni one.

Ask why I did it?

Cuz I can...

There is a lot of Athena EPS still 'out there'. BUT why I got 2 ders and a powerpack..just in case.

Besides, you aren't hosed, just gotta buy a powerpack, ders, interface, blah...

kinda if your 7900 STI sh--thebed...and still want DA...plus a new rear wheel...

Yeah, to be wise and not subscribe to so called "newer and better technologies" that offer no new real advantage beyond profit for the makers of batteries.

Just razzing you Peter. Hope you have a wonderful Turkey Day then a few great rides to work off all those calories.
