Like today, I stumbled across this beauty ...

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/scz/bik/4760105124.html

I like the skewed, duplicate pictures, the half a bare foot in the frame, and the shabby environment, but my favorite part is the disclosure: "Paint is not original."

God bless his honesty. ;)

(BTW, I love these frames and I'm seriously considering checking it out. Although I'm a little frightened by the foot.)

I like them too but I'd want a decent paint job so $400 is way more than I could justify paying. I live near Joe Bell and have owned several bikes painted by him but for a JB paint job to make sense here the bike would have to be free. :)

Sure that's not original paint? I seen to remember splatter paint on Paramounts in that era. Reminds me of the local business guy who sprays his whole Ti bike with flat black, high end components, wheels, everything - so he can leave it anywhere.

Paint job on the foot looks actually fairly decent...

No telling what you'll find after the paint is stripped from the frame.

If you decide to purchase post some pics of before, after stripping and after painting :)

Hey, it's Santa Cruz. You'd be hard pressed to find one actual pair of shoes in the whole town. But you can find a bunch of "medical" marijuana dispensaries.

When Yelp! warns you away from the parks due to "sketchy" people, you know the town has gone down hill.

I had mine in 89 during the height of the neon phase. It was a fluorescent yellow, to orange, to purple fade. I loved that bike. It got banged up in a sprint and needed a new seat tube and downtube. I had it repaired and it's still being ridden.

That Trek is underpriced. Any bike that will keep you upright when "you're loaded with liquor" is a damn fine bike. ;)
