I currently have my SON hub running my one LED headlight but would like to add a second to increase my vision. Can a SON dyno hub run two LED headlights? Has anyone done this and how did you split the cable from the hub?

Cheers,

what headlight are you running?

i feel like it would be a better idea to just get a better lamp...

Schmidt says you can run 2 Halogen headlights (in a series circuit) and will have enough voltage for both from 15-20km/h, which is why they recommend to use a light with a manual switch and only use the second beam at speeds above this.

(german language with diagrams)

For LED headlights, they refer to their FAQ on their "Edelux" which says:

"Prinzipiell könnte man zwei Edelux parallel- oder in Reihe geschaltet an einem Nabendynamo betreiben. In der Praxis bringt dies aber nur wenig mehr Licht. "

= "it is possible to use 2 Edelux either in serial or parallel circuit on one SON hub, but it will only produce marginally more light"

You may try to contact either Schmidt themselves, they are known to be a helpful bunch and possibly also can find an employee who is capable of ze english language. Alternatively, Schmidt refer to their US distributor www.peterwhitecycles.com

This may be more detail than you need, but here's a discussion on all sorts of configurations: https://groups.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/randon/Hk9hdhj-6fE

Just curious to know why you feel the need for the second headlamp? I've got an EdeluxII which provides more than enough lighting even in the darkest streets.
