Other than 100 grams more weight and a visor, what are the differences between the POC Octal and Trabec? Is the Trabec more protective in some way? Anyone try both? I’m considering getting a Trabec because I can’t find an Octal in a medium, nor a MIPs version. I understand that the Trabec is marketed as an "offroad" helmet, but don't see how that makes any difference in actual use.

it's not just the visor...the octal is a beefier helmet...it also has less ventilation than the octal

the octal is supposed to be coming out in a mips version soon

I have an Octal for the road and a Trabec Race MIPS for the MTB and CX bikes. The Octal is lighter and it definitely breathes better than the Trabec. I also find my Trabec w/MIPS fits more snug than my Octal. I do love them both. They both fit my head nicely and are very comfy.
