View Full Version : What psi should I use in my 700x25 tires?

I bought some Michelin 700x25 Pro2 race tires ( I was also going to try some GP4000 700x25 tires, but the supplier didn't have them at the time). I am using 120 psi rear, and 115 front, presently, in my 700x23 tires. I weigh 225. What psi would you suggest for my 700x25 tires?
THANKS for any suggestions.

and I weigh a tad more than you. I never run them more than 110 rear and 100 to 105 front. I have never had a pinch flat running at those pressures and I think you will like how plush they are...
Or, maybe try 100 both front and rear and see how you do. I am sure road conditions where you are will play a big part in determining what the final psi will be.
Good luck (they are great tires!),

I'd experiment.........it's not like you can get it "WRONG".
Try 90F and 100R.........see what that feels like and go from there.

I weigh 100kg and I've run Axial Carbon 700x25s at 100 front 105 rear for the past 1500 miles with no pinch flats. Of course, I also take care to ride light, don't slam over RR tracks, and save the really bad roads for my 650B bike.

Sandy all good advice but what if your NOT AT SEA LEVEL then how much air pressure do you need . Are you not a math professor :)

It all depends. If I am below sea level because I sunk, then it really doesn't make much difference. If I am above sea level, because I am on my Supersonic Speedy Serotta Sandy Spaceship, then it still doesn't matter since my bike won't fit. If I am anywhere in between those two extremes, it still doesn't matter, because I am:

sandy i am about 220 and have found 90f/100r to work great. nice ridability and no pinched flats. i ride pretty much on a daily basis and find that i only have to fill my tires about every three to four days. might loose a few lbs. by then.

Sandy, I 'm almost positive those have a max psi rating of 95. That's what we use on our tandem...about 360lbs with bike. 95psi is fine.

I am 195 and use 25s on my Kirk. I go 85 and 90 and it's a plush ride, no trouble thus far with pinch flats.

102 max psi. (which is a 13 psi drop from the 23mm)
I've run mine around 95 tol 100. lovely tires. 25's are good things, bloody fast too!
Sandy, as of last week, REI in Rockville had 2 GP4000 in 25.
The only time I have anything bigger than a 23 is when I put slicks on the MTB. Then I put 100psi in there. Still feels like mush when hammering out of the saddle.

WOOOOOOOOW
I've been thinking about getting these tires for our tandem. When I do get them, we'll give 95psi a try. This I have to see and feel. Our combo weighs 345 lbs.

I run 110 rear on the 25 Axial pro.
Front is 23, Run 120 there.
