I've googled quite a bit but all I come up with are links to nowhere (I searched here too without luck). And is there an easy way to tell what year it is? Mine was repainted and has a 1 inch headset and the top tube measures, I believe, 57.5 cm.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks - looks like the numbers are listed there. Any idea if the geometry changed, or was it the same in 1996 as say 2001 or 2002?

There are scans of every Trek LeMond catalogue on the vintage Trek site.

Geo stayed the same all years of the 853 frames I think.

Best way to determine year is the paint. You might try pulling the fork and seeing if there's any of the original color on the steerer tube, or maybe check chipped areas for signs of the original underneath.

The branding on the fork changed over the years, but I don't know if the fork changed enough to identify the year.

You might also compare serial numbers to others. I have a '99 here I can check.

Here are links for 2001 and 2002:

If you know what the original paint looked like Bikepedia (http://www.bikepedia.com/) is sometimes helpful for identifying the model year of a frame.
