Mt Washington Revisited...Newton's Revenge

Well...they have a new race on Mt. Washington. They are letting wait-listed Mt. Washington racers sign up first for this one before they open it up to the general public. So...anyone want to race Mt. Washington in July?

Greetings from the Mt Washington Auto Road

As registrants on the Mt. Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hillclimb’s waiting
list, we are contacting you to let you know about a new event we are very
excited about. Because of the overwhelming demand for bicycle racing on
Mt Washington, we will be offering another bicycle race up the Mt.
Washington Auto Road! The name of the new race is Newton’s Revenge. It
is scheduled for July 8th 2006. This race will be the same course as the
MWARBH and this year’s race will benefit the Mt. Washington Observatory
and Mt. Washington State Park.

Future Newton’s Revenge hillclimbs will be conducted in a way that will
not hinder the Tin Mountain Conservation Center’s ability to raise funds
and so will only be held if the MWARBH fills completely (as it has this
year).

I've signed up. (That makes at least one perso desperate enough to puish himself on this mountain to take the second-chace event.)

Wow, they were able to get another date? That's awesome and generous. Mary at MW must be working hard to make that happen.

. . . that the major things that previously put me off trying the hill climb were the high entry fee and the mad scramble to get in. But it's certainly a noble goal for any cyclist to have. I can certainly understand if they can't have the road open to cyclists every day, but if thet can indeed have more than the one "official" event and charge people a reasonable entry fee, then it could turn into quite an attraction.

At any rate, for you Ginger I'm very glad this additional opportunity has come up to help you pursue your goal!
