Hi

Have my eye on a couple of 525's that are on eBay currently. Both are listed as a size 54. When I go looking at geometry charts for 525 Merckx I find two different sets of geometry charts with different specs.
The specs are significantly different. i.e. top tube goes from 557 to 569 on the size 54.

For a relatively new model has there been a change in geometry already?
If so what model years are which geometry?

Thanks for the help!

From what I know there are relatively few standards when it comes to Merckx geometry. Even production models (ie non-custom) could have slight variations built in. I have had maybe a dozen Corsa Extra's passing through the house. I remember two Corsa Extra's labelled as 56 (6X stamped under the BB shell) : one had a 13.4cm headtube, the other one had a 14.2cm headtube. One had a slacker seat tube angle. I have also had a few 55 (5X) : one had a 55.0cm top tube, the other one had a 55.5cm top tube.

So you never know for sure with those Merckx lugged steel frames. Best is to have a competent seller who knows how to measure a frame but on eBay it's a hit or miss I think.

Merckx 525 is a carbon frame.

Merckx 525 is a carbon frame.

Woops. Haha. Just made a fool of myself. Need-more-coffee :D

I though we were talking about Reynolds 525 steel. Not that I think Merckx ever made one out of it but... :help:

Looks like the 569 TT would be a 56.
