I've used a 12-30 Ultegra 10 speed cassette with SRAM Red 2012/2013 rear mech. 30T is the limit and it helps to adjust the B-screw. See below

The cranks shown in my pic with the 12-30 cassette are 50-34.
Your 11/34 combo might test the limit of chain wrap on the rear derailleur. I bet the 53-39 would be better since the difference between chainrings is smaller than 50-34.
