Hey all,

I have a carbon cross fork with no damage, but has a piece of something (epoxy?) that rattles a bit in one leg. It's finally making me crazy and I want to make it stop. Tried to shake out the piece, but no luck. Has hidden fender mounts that are open to the inside of the leg. I want to put something in there to catch the loose piece, but don't know what. I have no clue what is safe to put inside a carbon fork leg. Elmer's glue? Wood glue? Linseed oil? Please teach me.

Thanks,

Jason

If you have access to the inside then drop some clear nail paint drops in the hole, and let it dry. The crap will be stuck in the paint forever.

I would use polyurethane car clear or paint, it is more sticky and dries fast.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. Is nail paint the same thing as nail polish? I don't need to worry about one or the other being bad for the epoxy or the resin?

A squirt of Great Stuff foam will do the trick as well.

The two suggestions above are great. 3M Fastak adhesive works well, too.

a golf club repair shop will have "rattle stop" glue. They inject it into club heads to catch loose welding slag etc.

Yes nail polisher, even any color of nails paint should do the trick aswell... as long as you get something sticky inside that willdry quick, the crap that is inside will get stuck in there glued forever :p

Did not know those other products, good to know :)

Just be sure to leave the bike or the fork standing up really wheel so the junk stands where you want it.

Didn't Grant Petersen have a video that shows how to get rid of rattles in carbon forks?

Thanks again, everyone. I have some clear nail polish from a previous paint touch-up, so I'll try that.
