I just replaced my DA 7950 compact chainrings with a set of Praxis mid-compact rings. The DA chainring bolts were a real pain in the a$@. I couldn't free any of the bolts with a regular torx driver, and had to use a ratchet to get enough leverage to budge any of them. One of the torx nuts then stripped, and only loosened after I spent 1/2 hr working it with a dremel tool. Things just cannot be easy it seems.:o

but the move to Torx seems like an answer to a question no one was asking.

supposedly torx was better able to be torqued, I think.. but yeah, hex wasn't broken..

Common these days with aluminum bolts, which the 7950 CR bolts are. Should be steel but they are SO heavy...:p

Pedros has a short page explaining some of the reasons Torx is picking up steam. In my experience, it does feel more secure under high loads.
