Past tense of "ride" is "rode", not "road". To become without something is "lose", not "loose".

Edit for spelling if not for content.

That is all, for now.

On a similar note, several years ago while using an early Android talk to text program, I texted "the baby was born", my autocorrect switched it to "porn".
Curious, I tried the words form, mourn, corn and horn and all were autocorrected to porn.
Lesson: Do your own spellcheck.

I kept trying to type "ConCom" which is shorthand for Conservation Committee. Auto correct kept changing it to "condom". . . . .

My personal favourite is the always popular "I need new peddles ............"

I was part of the first edition of a "public policy" journal in law school that was sent to the printer from WordPerfect. Spell check did nothing about missing "L"s in the first word. Somewhat embarassing for the editors.

For your information, it's not SPELL check.

Witches use spell check.

It's SPELLING check.

There, Their
pelOton
irregardless isn't a word, 'regardless'.

Neither is 'impacted', yep it's in the dictionary but it's dum(b). 'Had an impact'.

Others, and I'm a lousey speler.

Which begs the question, why do people use "begs the question" when they mean "raises the question" (instead of an assertion in which the conclusion is assumed in the premise)?

Unless you're in the medical profession, in which case 'impacted' is a real word, and a right unpleasant one at that.

It has a bit of a different meaning for you flyers.

When you are holding the hammer and smack someone on the thumb, the hammer "had an impact." If it's your thumb, "impacted" is more accurate. Also if you're describing constipation.

Elvis had apparently, an impacted colon. And it is likely what killed him......

and, according to this story, he had sharts on stage. (How does spellcheck do with that word!?)

"5 to 6 inches in diameter (whereas the normal width is 2 to 3 inches) and instead of being the standard 4 to 5 feet long, his colon was 8 to 9 feet in length. "

I often enjoy these types of threads even more than bike-related ones. As a journalism major (back in the dark ages before computers were prevalent and we edited copy with a blue pencil on paper) kudos to the forum for caring about language and its ( or is it it's!) :) proper usage.
