my hero

although, upon closer inspection, these don't seem like they were designed for QR's...

these (http://www.geneticbikes.com/products-details.php?prod=CHGETT1R) look similar and have an insert for QR use, but i can't seem to find a place to actually BUY them.

hmmm, looks like I can buy the QR washers from a surly tuggnut, so maybe a combo of some sort would work.

either way, thanks for the tip!

Many flavors over at Dan's Competition (BMX guys really need these, at least I did)

He said those are the ones, with zero modifications. Use a good skewer too.

yes, they are also butt ugly :butt:

the washer is sold separately so I'm thinking of maybe trying to find a way to use it with one of these other tensioners.

matt mentioned that mo was using the promax tensioners without any sort of QR specific adaptor, so i might just try that first and see if i break anything.

Very ugly.

Report back on the promax please.

agreed!

here's a bunch of protips:

no surly-esque washer is needed, the qr works just fine with any tensioner
the style of chain tensioner pictured in the op is a generic design rebranded by many others (https://www.google.com/search?q=bmx+chain+tensioner&rlz=1CASMAE_enUS526US527&es_sm=93&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=bgVHVMvOJ4WtyAS_44GQCg&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAg)
steel dropouts? no chain tensioner is needed, provided you have steel axle locknuts and a good (internal cam) qr with serrated faces, eg shimano or campy.
remember, on a geared bike the qr is under much more load than on a ss setup. (do the math with gear ratios and tq)
if you're you can't regularly make the rear wheel shift on a geared bike with horizontal dropouts (http://www.slowtwitch.com/articles/images/0/62550-largest_Sheldon_dropouts.jpg) you'll never be able to with a ss (above caveats apply- internal cam, serrated faces, etc)
