I am looking for a silver seatpost to match my nos ultegra quill stem that's going to go on my new zank roadbike. Any recommendations and sources for where I could find such a post?

I'm thinking one of the older dura-ace posts might be nice but want to know my options.

Thanks!

the Dura Ace is about as good as it get- look around on pricing though- you can find them on the net for anywhere from $80- $130-

the Nitto's look nice too- but I have not used them

Another Option (http://cgi.ebay.com/NITTO-DYNAMIC-65-BIKE-SEATPOST-27-2-250mm_W0QQitemZ7226568345QQcategoryZ27951QQtcZphot oQQcmdZViewItem)

Doesn't Dura Ace tend to have a little tint in its silver?

or a Thomson

American Classic, Ti or Al. Both are nice.

Kalloy and X-Lite, both available from wallbike.com. Thompson, or if you can find one, new old stock Campy Chorous Ti are nice as well.

I think its one of the niceset looking SPs out there, and wanted to put one on my new fixed frame, but kept running into reports of the head coming unglued. I guess the problem was either solved or those instances were flukes?

most of those were on Roadbike Review- right?

I have not had that issue on any of my bikes- my buddy scott- some here know him - is pushing 280lbs- he has a DA post on his bike- and has had it for about 8 years-

buy one and ignore the reports of them braking- I always found it funny that people clamed the DA post broke but the Easton one didnt- I guess the Dura Ace logo was causing the break

Yes! the Jaguar is cool, and then of course you "have" to get
the stainless waterbottle cages too!

i was rearranging some bike bits last night -- actually my s.o. yelled at me to clean "the bike crap" out of the livingroom -- and i happen to look at one of my DA posts. to my eye, it is a pure silver color. no tint that i could detect.

I swear by the handfillet-brazed Nitto. Well not really swear, but they are near the epitomy of form and function.

Yes, the nitto are neato.
I also like the shape of the classic 5.0mm speciailzed cages,
but got tired of the alu. cages having the paint
or anodizing wear off, and leaving that garbage all over
the bottle.

Wow, thanks for all the input.

Decisions, decisions, but it's a good place to be. I think it's probably down to the Dura Ace or the Nitto, but I may be leaning toward the DA. Probably will depend on how easily I can find the DA.

Aren't they nickel or chrome plated as well? Need to order one for my new frame.

ya know, they made Dura-Ace seatposts concurrently and with matching finishes to the stems....that is if you REALLY want to match them....the current Nittos are much easier to come by.

Yup, a very good match.

I have both DA and Nitto Crystal Fellow. The DA is a bit lighter and while I've had no problems with it I can imagine that it COULD break. I can not imagine how anyone could break the Nitto. I think they are both lovely to look at and their adjustments are not too coarse unlike some one-bolt posts.

The Nitto will not be cheap no matter where you buy it new. It's here too: http://www.peterwhitecycles.com/seatposts.asp

Two words, White Carbon.

Carbon fiber components done in white carbon appear silver and look awesome.

the current Campy Centaur is the campy equivalent to the DA/Ultegra, which is to say silver alloy. I've got one and it's great, though not as nice as the Campy Ti one on my good bike...
