Richard Sachs buys Giant bicycle.
Internet news indicates that well known bicycle frame builder Richard Sachs has just purchased the Giant Bicycle Company. This bicycle industry news has surprised many in the industry… according to Sachs…” I just found myself with $765 million dollars in my checking account and I have always wanted to own a huge factory full of semi skilled workers…so I went for it…” industry sources also indicate that Sachs will move the Giant factory to Chester, ct …as soon as he closes on a 275,000 sq foot facility near his house. Word has it that all the
worker lunch rooms and rec buildings will all have vending machines and each will be stocked with just Twizzlers.

Many people see a variety of changes from standard Sachs products.. most are advantages… like…
The wait list for a frame will be cut down from 7 years to 44 seconds
The frames will now cost $57.76
And they will all be “ a special really super light aluminum…” according to Sachs. Otoh, all the free time and seed capital will allow him to focus on his new line of table runners. See link: http://forums.thepaceline.net/showpo...06&postcount=36

The disadvantages are that you will likely see 450 of them near your house within 4 weeks of this sale.
It also seems that they will be all one excellent color… “ selected by my new color coordination manager…” notes Sachs.

A very excited Richard Sachs concludes with… “ now I can quit getting flux all over everything and concentrate on managing the brand!”

" at this point i am looking to get rid of one large box of lugs left over from my prior enterprise...make an offer....i dont see why you need these things anyway..."

The 44 second wait and the $57.76 cost seem fairly reasonable. But what if you don't like the "excellent color" and more importantly, what if this Sachs guy doesn't have a clue of how to design and build a bike?

Steve,

I like the paint-on lugs, can I get a catalog of choices? I'm looking for the very ornate ones in chrome.

I'm not at all surprised. e-RICHIE has done this sort of thing before, in the 1980's, when he bought Maillard, Sedis, and Huret. He's been rather low-key for a while, but I knew he's had something up his sleeve.

I forgot to ask- Is there a discount for an order of 2 or more bikes?
