I just moved to the area. Where is the best riding? Any group rides? Any help will be appreciated. I live on Kilgore Ave near Cameron Village.

There is a lot of great riding locally and regionally, depending on what you are into. So without a lot of info.....

www.trianglemtb.com is a great resource for everything dirt related. All the trails, conditions and direction to them, as well as an active local forum. The local MTN scene is really healthy. Matter of fact there was a Single Speed Rallye last week, that one of my friends won the drinking portion of! :p

www.raleighgyros.com is a group that leaves out of a lot of north-of-the loop areas and has a nice google chat room for meeting up with rides.

www.thespincycle.com is a great local shop I hang out at a bit. There website has a lot of great links that lead to links throughout the entire area.

A bunch of guys on this site are here in Raleigh or the Raleigh area, and I'm sure they'll chime in with stuff, too.

I'm east of you in Knightdale (The "Cary" of the next decade) and the cycling is sparse, for now. Odd, cause there are so many roads that are just fantastic. I just found a new route today while out running errands with my daughter. I may have to start a Knightdale Cycling Club Blog just to get something going!

There is a ride on April 9 at Hanging Rock that is supposed to be good (maybe an hour away). Don't know if we are at the same level this time of year (I'm at "slow and pudgie"), but I've gotten permission from the boss to go, so if you wanna lift out there..... http://www.foothillsclassic.org/

PM me if you have any questions or anything, and welcome to the area!

Jason

Raleigh has one of the great bike shops in the US, North Road Bicycles. There's also an active randonneuring community there.
